All the aforementioned agreements are negotiated and supervised by the Office
of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of the Government's Ministry of Industry and Trade
The OCS also supports projects that meet appropriate criteria, in particular
with regard to the export potential of the final product. In 1999 alone, more
than 1,000 R&D intensive projects received OCS funding to help cover costs.
In addition, the OCS supports more than 250 start-up companies in 28
technological incubators around the country and through the Magnet program
funds generic technologies.
